Mundubbera Landmark has new agent

ANDREW Costello will soon become a familiar face around Mundubbera.

Landmark Mundubbera has welcomed Mr Costello as a new stock agent for the town.

Branch manager Ashley Doessel said the company saw an opportunity to fill a hole in the local market.

"There was strong demand for it,” Mr Doessel said.

"Andrew became available and he was keen.

"We'll do our best for clients and establish something beneficial for both parties.”

Mr Costello said he had been an agent for eight months, though knew the industry well.

"I'm originally from a property at Charters Towers,” he said.

"I'm excited to work with the region.”

He said he hoped to change the perception people have of stock agents.

"I want to be there for the client... (and) look after property owners,” he said.

"It's about creating a bigger loyalty from the small communities.”

Mr Costello said he would also be able to sell cattle through new mediums, such as online auctions, opening up new opportunities for producers.

He said the local cattle market was currently performing well and he could not wait to get deeper into the market.

"It's very strong,” he said.

"It's strong everywhere due to high demand.”

He said there were many new market avenues local producers in the area could enter.

"The live export industry (is one avenue),” he said.

"Cattle in this area could be used for exports.

"We can offer access to many different markets.”

Welcoming a new stock agent is just one of many ways Landmark Mundubbera has recently connected with the community.

"We ran a competition from May to June for purchases of Dalgety products,” Mr Doessel said.

"Customers went into the draw to the win a Gallagher reader worth $2000.

"John and Leonie Bourke (won it).

Mr Doessel said the competition was successful in building hype around the products.
