Nanango dancer ready to pursue her dreams on stage
NICOLE Knott will make the move from her home town of Nanango to the Gold Coast in 2019 to pursue her dancing dreams.
The Nanango State High graduate has been accepted as a full-time student at Dynamite Studios Australia.
"I knew I wanted to dance and, when I went into high school, started to take it a bit more seriously and the past year I have been looking into dance schools,” she said.
"It was really cool because it is a very big well-known dance school.”
In February Nicole will start a Certificate Four in Performing Arts and the following year will complete a Diploma in Elite Performance.
"I am hoping to get contracts and do freelance dancing, contract to contract, and see where that takes me,” she said.
"I would love to perform on cruise ships and a couple of people from Dynamite have gone one to do that.”
Nanango is a breeding ground for up and coming dance talent with fellow LaCreme Dance Academy students Kristy Nicholson and Chelsea Bowden dancing full time at Dynamite Studios this year and Nicole is looking forward to doing the dance studio proud.
This year at La Creme Dance Academy Nicole took five classes a week putting in up to 10 hours at the studio, including her favourite classes, contemp- orary and acrobatics.
"I like how contemporary is not structured so you have different sub-categories and acro is fun to learn new skills and to try new things,” Nicole said.
In addition to working on her own goals, Nicole helped aspiring dancers achieve their own as an assistant teacher for acro and tap.
Nicole, who started dancing at eight years of age, even now gets nervous when she goes on to perform.
"The first time I always get nervous but, once I am on, it is nice to perform for people,” she said.
She looks forward to taking the opportunity and that comes with having to make the move from the South Burnett.
"It is a little scary but I am excited for something different and a change,” Nicole said.
"My family is very supportive of me and excited to see what the future lies for me.”
