FORMER rugby league star Michael Hancock has stepped up to replace Greg Inglis as the final captain at the South Burnett's Captain's Dinner which will raise funds for Relay for Life, at the Kingaroy Town Hall on July 27.

Event organiser Carl Rackemann said he was unable to contact Inglis since he was admitted to a rehab clinic in May.

"Due to personal circumstances he is unable to make it and everyone hopes things works out for him and we will look forward to another dinner down the track and welcoming him as a guest speaker,” he said.

"We are thrilled and very grateful that at short notice Michael Hancock has stepped in.”

The 14-time State of Origin representative and 13-time Australian representative will be be a captain at the dinner alongside Australian cricketer Greg Ritchie and record-holding solo sailor Jessica Watson.

All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Relay for Life, with auction items to include an eight-seat corporate box at Brisbane Tennis, a $2500 sponsorship package with Crow FM, two tickets to Queen in concert and various sporting memorabilia.
