MINERAL processing company Sedgman has secured a $6million contract with Stanwell Corporation to provide a tailings de-watering facility at the Meandu mine.
Sedgman managing director Michael Carretta said the company had a long association with the Meandu mine, having been involved in the design and commissioning of the original coal processing plant in 1986.
He said the existing tailings dam was approaching full capacity and the de-watering solution used centrifuges to reduce the moisture content allowing Stanwell Corporation to dispose of the fine tailings with coarse plant reject.
Works are expected to be finished by November.
