New roundabout makes for safer entrance to town
KINGAROY'S new roundabout at the D'Aguilar Highway, Rogers Dr and Industrial Ave intersection is now complete.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the $1.87 million upgrade would improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection.
"There is a history of rear-end crashes, where motorists have been waiting to make a right turn at this location,” Mr Bailey said.
"With the new roundabout, motorists will need to slow down and give way to vehicles already on the roundabout before starting a turn or continuing straight.”
Motorists are urged to be careful when travelling through the new roundabout for the first time.
"Conditions have changed at the intersection and it will take time for motorists to adjust to the new layout,” Mr Bailey said.
"I thank the local business and motoring communities for their cooperation while these important works were completed.”
The Kingaroy roundabout project supported about 12 jobs during construction.
TMR has also worked on several other projects within the South Burnett this financial year.
The installation of $65,000 worth of improved signage along a section of Maidenwell-Bunya Mountains Rd helped improve safety about 12km west of Maidenwell.
TMR also spent $58,000 to improve safety on a section of Maidenwell-Bunya Mountains Rd, about 2.5km west of Maidenwell. This included the installation of improved signage to better delineate the alignment of the road, and works to ensure a safer roadside.
Work was also done on a section of the Bunya Highway near the Webbs Rd intersection, which involved $183,000 worth of curve-widening works, improved signage and applying audio tactile line marking.
