No job losses at Blue Care Kingaroy
BLUE Care has confirmed there will be no job losses at the Canowindra residential aged care facility in Kingaroy.
Group executive for Blue Care Alan Wilson said the aged care provider was in the early stages of employee consultation, but there would not be any job losses in Kingaroy.
Earlier this week Blue Care announced it would consult with staff at the Canowindra facility about work hours.
This came after 11 nursing jobs were cut from the organisation's Bundaberg facility.
"Blue Care is not replacing registered nurses or enrolled nurses with personal carers,” Mr Wilson said.
"Our personal carers are responsible for the same basic care tasks that family members regularly undertake in their own homes when caring for a loved one.
"Blue Care personal carers do not and will not have responsibility for the administration of medication to residents and will continue to practice in accordance with all applicable Federal and State legislation and regulations.
"Importantly, our RNs will continue to have special responsibility for the administration of complex and high-risk medications to residents.
"We are working to improve the quality of care that residents receive by increasing the frequency with which the same Blue Care employees work with the same residents, creating a family-like environment within our aged care facilities.”
