'No respect': Burnett man clocked at ridiculous speed

A YARRAMAN driver has been blasted by police for having "no respect" after being caught travelling at 163kmh - 63kmh over the speed limit - at the weekend.

Police were patrolling the D'Aguliar Highway at 7.50am on Sunday when they detected the Holden Commodore travelling at the dangerous speed.

A 20-year-old Yarraman man was issued with an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by 40kmh or more, received a fine for $1245 and lost eight demerit points.

His drivers licence was also disqualified for six months.

Kingaroy officer-in-charge Sergeant David Tierney said these types of drivers had "no respect" for other people or other road users.

"They don't believe the message applies to them," he said.

Sgt Tierney said while travelling at that dangerous speed, the driver would have had no time to react, regardless of how good they thought they were at driving, "particularly on roads like that".
