One decision to drive leads to four charges

BEAU Anthony Whitney has never held a driver's licence, but that didn't stop him from getting behind the wheel on September 13.

He was charged with four offences when he was intercepted by police driving on Greenview Rd in Wondai at 5.15pm.

Police prosecutor Pepe Gangemi told the Murgon Magistrates Court on Tuesday that Whitney was charged for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle with number plates from another car and driving without a licence.

Magistrate Louisa Pink recognised that while Whitney had a traffic history he had not previously committed a similar offence.

He was fined $400 for unlicensed driving and was disqualified from holding a licence for three months.

Ms Pink said fitting numbers plates from another vehicle seemed like an attempt to avoid detection. For this offence he was fined $310.

He was fined $520 for driving an uninsured vehicle, and after taking into account his unemployment status, he was convicted and not further punished for driving an unregistered vehicle.
