'Open, honest and raw' Kayla Boyd shares her story

A VERY open, honest and raw Kayla Boyd delighted audiences when she spoke of her battles with online bullying, building an online brand, breaking the shackles of being labelled "just a footballers wife" and a snapshot of her family life.

She spoke at the first EventKo's Influencers series event, run by Erin Kehoe-O'Shea at Tapestry in Toowoomba.

It was also the first time Ms Boyd, a social sensation with over 34k followers across Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and her blog, Adored by Kayla Boyd, had spoken in person to an audience about her life.

"To EventKo and to those who attended, thank you for having me and wanting to hear my story," Ms Boyd said via her Instagram account.

"It was my first time visiting this gorgeous little city.

"I'll be back to immerse myself into some sightseeing next time."

Ms Boyd was particularly influential when she spoke of her husband, Darius' battles with mental illness and how she as the partner had to play a big role in the recovery process.

She also shared details about her fitness regime and family life.

Ms Boyd was interviewed on stage by Kathryn Doyle and a portion of the ticket sales were donated to Motor Neurone Disease research.

"Kathryn's family is going through a battle with MND at the moment so as a vote of thanks to her and a way of showing our support we thought it was fitting to raise funds for a cause so close to Kathryn's heart," Ms Kehoe-O'Shea said.

Ms Kehoe-O'Shea said the power of social media was "unquestionable" and the celebrities of today were everyday people who had created an enormous online following by sharing insights into their lives.

She said the series would feature celebrity, food, mum, fitness, comedy and beauty "influencers" who had a considerable influence on the lives of their millions of followers both on and offline.
