Our kids join one million others in synchronised reading
DON'T be alarmed if you hear rumours of a herd of alpacas in Kingaroy this week.
In fact, there will be talk of alpacas right across the country this week during the National Simultaneous Story Time.
As part of the Under 8s Day in the Park, South Burnett children will read the hugely popular book, Alpacas with Maracas.
By doing so, they will be joining over one million children right across the country all reading the book at the same time.
National Simultaneous Storytime is an important campaign held annually that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
The Australia wide synchronised reading session is just one of the exciting events planned for the Under 8s Day in the Park.
The free event is a nationally recognised day to celebrate children and families.
The theme for the event is celebrating the diversity of languages within the home, culture and community.
There will be a big focus on triple zero awareness and will feature displays and vehicles from the Queensland Ambulance, Police, Fire and emergency services and rural fire services.
The Under 8s Day in the Park will be held at Kingaroy's Memorial Park on Wednesday May 22 from 9am to 11.30am.
