PCYC prepares to celebrate exciting milestone

SOUTH Burnett PCYC opened its doors to the community in 2009, making this year an important one for the centre.

PCYC South Burnett branch manager Sergeant Rene Bond, who has been with the organisation since September 2018, is proud of its continued support of young people and the broader community and is looking forward to marking its 10-year milestone.

"The club offers a safe, welcoming space for all ages," Sgt Bond said.

Renowned for delivering inclusive youth and community programs such as BYTE NITE and Restart, the club also offers a range of sporting and recreational activities and a gym and fitness centre which now offers 24-hour access.

But getting the community moving isn't the only area in which the PCYC plays a key part.

"We offer ways for the community to connect," Sgt Bond said.

"We provide mentors, including police officers to positively impact young people.

"Delivering programs for the Murgon community with support from local community organisations, local schools and Education Queensland helps us to encourage engagement, social cohesion, healthy and active lifestyles as well as empowering young people to make positive life choices."

Sgt Bond is proud to be involved in the centre's 10-year celebrations.

"Celebrating our 10-year anniversary is a wonderful achievement," she said.

"The club has continued to adapt to the changing needs of the community and plays a vital role in the lives of many young people and their families in the South Burnett region."

The continued success of the region's largest sporting facility is good news for the many other organisations that use the centre.

"We have the Murgon Music Muster here every year," Sgt Bond said.

"They hire out the space for the week - they are going from strength to strength."

Other third party groups that are proud to call the South Burnett PCYC home include the Murgon Show and the Murgon Mustangs Junior Rugby League Club.
