Pin-ups compete for BaconFest title

PIN-UP pageant entrants added a little glamour to Kingaroy's food festival.

BaconFest's pageant proved tough to judge on Saturday August 25.

Pageant host Bettie Butcher said the ten contestants were very interactive and supportive of each other.

"All of the girls did a fabulous, fantastic job,” she said.

Pin-up entrants Darling Dollface, Adena Ruby, Alie, Maizie May, Scarlett Jigsaw, and Jayne Von Kitten were all from the South Burnett.

Competitor Jessie McDangermouse travelled from Dalby for the pageant.

"It was great for the region to see what pin-up is because there are lots of women who are interested, but don't have that network in place,” Miss Butcher said.

More than half of the entrants were first timers, and there was only one point separating most of the contestants.

"They went really well, you wouldn't have known they were first timers,” she said.

Audrey Azure from Brisbane was crowned the 2018 Miss Kingaroy Baconfest for the first pin-up pageant held in the South Burnett.

"I'm so surprised, it feels good,” she said.

Miss Azure had heard about the pageant and BaconFest through her friend, Scarlett Jigsaw, who won an encouragement award on Saturday.

"BaconFest is massive, and the food smells amazing,” she said.

Gold Coast pin-up Miss Curley Sue won a runners up prize for her BaconFest-inspired umbrella and guide, and entrant Bunny Lulu travelled from the Sunshine Coast for the pageant.
