Pitch is ready to roll at Kumbia for seven a side cricket

FOR the first time, two Kumbia community organisations are banding together to raise money.

The Kumbia Cricket Cluband Kumbia Kindergarten are having a cricket day to raise funds for the two organisations on Saturday.

Organiser Chantelle Whiteman said the day would consist of seven-a-side teams for round-robin cricket games.

"Everyone will play everyone in the modified rules for ladies and kids,” she said.

"There will be free pony rides and face painting for the kids.”

Mrs Whiteman said therewould be backyard cricket rules, using a softer ball and one-hand- one-bounce rules.

"There will be prizes forthe best ladies' team andbest overall team,” she said.

The day is $70 for a team and a canteen and bar will run from 11am.

The games will start at 8am.

"The kindergarten has five kids at the moment, it's low numbers but we're not closing,” she said.

"Just a family day out is what we're aiming for.”

Teams should register before the day.
