CRICKET: In A grade the Murgon Crusaders travelled to Gympie on Saturday to take on the Wests.
Murgon won the toss and elected to bat.
Craig Murree and Jason Webber shared an opening partnership of 268 runs over 30.2 overs.
Webber retired hurt on 100 runs and Murree had an impressive knock of 156 runs.
Lehman Brunjes contributed 53 runs not out and Kurt McArthur made 20 runs not out.
The team finished one wicket down for 356 runs after 40 overs.
Jamian Currie led the bowling attack from Murgon, claiming four wickets for 24 runs off 7.3 overs.
Graham Brown dismissed three batsmen for 43 runs off eight overs and Kurt McArthur and Bryce Edwards claimed a wicket each.
The Southern District Devils also travelled to Gympie and took on the Harlequins.
The home team was sent into bat and made nine for 143 off 40 overs.
Quick thinking in the field by the Devils resulted in four run-outs for the Harlequins.
Tyler Heness contributed 24 runs not out to the Devils' total, while Kieren Askin made 21 runs.
The Devils made the required runs in 33 overs, seven wickets down to claim the win.
Next week the two South Burnett teams will go head-to-head in Murgon.
In the South Burnett B-grade competition Cherbourg faced Kingaroy Services in Murgon.
Services won the toss and elected to bat.
Glenn Kelly made 36 runs for Services, Justin Labinsky scored 31 runs not out and Brian Walters made 24.
After 40 overs Services were eight wickets down for 184 runs.
Alfred Watcho, William Langton and Danny Weazel claimed two wickets each for Cherbourg.
Cherbourg made the required runs with 196 runs after 24 overs and five wickets down.
Tom Langton put in an impressive performance to ensure victory for Cherbourg making 110 runs not out.
William Langton made 37 runs and Barry Fisher Jnr contributed 29 not out.
The Diggers won the toss and went into bat against Nanango.
The Diggers made seven for 145 runs and ensured they defended their total, with Nanango all out for 115 runs after 31 overs for the Diggers to win by 30.
