Protest outside nursing home over CQHHS privatisation plans

STAFF and one concerned resident gathered outside of the North Rockhampton nursing home this morning to protest the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service's plans to privatise the city's state-owned aged care facilities.

Queensland Nurses Union regional organiser David Abraham said it was all about raising community awareness.

"This health board is supposed to represent the community and provide health services out here," he said.

"There was no consultation with staff or the residents.

"We're hoping to reverse the board's decision so instead of trying to put the facilities up for tender we can keep them open for the people."
