Quick-thinking neighbour fights fire with palm frond
CHERBOURG firefighters were assisted by a quick-thinking neighbour today who put out the majority of a reported fire with a palm frond.
At 2pm today a small grass fire broke out on a footpath and in a backyard at a house on Hillview St, Cherbourg.
Two fire crews made their way to the reported fire but when they arrived they were pleased to be advised the majority of the work had already been done.
Firefighters praised the quick-thinking neighbour who used the unusual object to diffuse the blaze.
The Cherbourg Fire Station took to their Facebook group to show their appreciation.
"Well done to the neighbour who put most the fire out with a palm frond before firefighters arrived,” the post read.
