Quicker access to drinkable water

SOUTH Burnett residents can now access drinking water with ease.

South Burnett Regional Council have installed new tap-and-go water standpipes in Nanango, Blackbutt and Benarkin where residents can use their credit or debit cards to pay for the potable water.

This will replace the existing coin operated machines, and the potable water may be purchased at these standpipes with the cost of water remaining at $4 per kilolitre.

The standpipes will be located on Brisbane Rd in Nanango, Bowmans Rd in Blackbutt and Scotts St in Benarkin.

Water, waste water and waste management portfolio holder Cr Roz Frohloff said the new standpipes were now in operation.

"The new standpipes offer customers a reliable source of potable water 24 hours a day, seven days a week as well as a convenient way to pay with tap-and-go card payments,” she said.

The payment system is operated by the tap-and-go Visa or MasterCard credit-debit card system and transactions will be limited to a minimum of $1 and a maximum of $99 per transaction.

There will be a 25mm hose available, however customers will need to provide their own 50mm cam lock and hose to use the larger connection.
