RESULTS: South Burnett Vets bring in top scores

GOLF: Injuries were not going to stop a South Burnett golfer from taking out the title at the South Burnett Veteran Golf Club's latest competition.

John Woodward rose to the occasion on Tuesday after putting the pain in his injured right hand to the back of his mind.

He recorded a game winning 44 stableford points.

There were 48 members of the veteran golf club who played at the Goomeri Golf Club on July 2.

Popular golfer from Blackbutt, Murray McGee was runners up with a score of 43 points.

He recorded three birdies and an eagle on 10 in his score.

He was followed by Ray Schofield on 43 points, Mel Denning on 42 points, Dean Pilgrim on 40 points, Rob Rose on 40 points, Ross Brandon on 40 points, Gary Carter on 39 points, Peter Mohyluk on 39 points and James Wright and Ray Forster on 38 points.

Bob Holmes and Bob Bogus finished the game with 37 points while Peter Delaney, Lionel Worth, Ray Henderson, Ian Andress, Graham Bickerton , Rob Underzart were all on 36 points.

Joy Coy won the ladies competition with 36 points.

She was followed by runners up Wendy Harris, Lorraine Michel and Margo Howard who finished on 34 points.

The nearest Pin ladies was Jean Bury-Porter.

The men's was 9/18 Gary Whalan and 7/16 Tim Robe.

The N.A.G.A. trophy winner on count back this week was Peter Hegarty with 29 points.

The South Burnett Veteran Golf Club will compete at the Wondai Golf Club at 9.30am on Tuesday, July 9.
