Road closures for this weekend's cycling championships

HIUNDREDS of cyclists will take to South Burnett roads this weekend as they contest the Queensland ITT and Road Race Championships.

Roads in Kumbia and Kingaroy will be temporarily closed for the events on Saturday and Sunday.

Temporary road closures from noon to 4pm on Saturday in Kumbia include:

  • Stuart St, between Short St and Roberts St
  • Francis St, between Short St and Stuart St

Temporary road closures from 8am-5pm on Sunday include:

  • Somerset St, between Alford St/ Alford St East and Knight St
  • Fisher St, between Haley St and Alford St East
  • Alford St East, between Fisher St and Gabbed St

Residents who are affected will receive information in their letterbox drops with further details and traffic management will be in place to manage local access.

Traffic controllers and traffic marshals will help control traffic for other affected roads along the route..

Apart from the mentioned closed roads, all lanes will remain open to traffic, cyclists will ride on the correct side of the road and obey the road rules.

A lead vehicle will be in front of the peloton and a vehicle will travel behind the peloton alongside several other support vehicles and motorbikes. The motorbikes will position themselves along intersections while the pack passes.
