RSL to welcome decorated Navy Officer
WARRANT Officer Dale Young will be the guest speaker at Kingaroy's Anzac Day service.
WO Young joined the Australian Navy in 1989 as an Electronic Technical Weapons sailor. He went on. to serve out of Cairns on MA Ships Ipswich, Gladstone and Bendigo where he was promoted to Leading Seaman.
By 1997 he was posted to the HMAS Cerberus in Victoria as a weapons maintenance instructor.
In 1999 WO Young was selected to conduct specialist maintenance training in the United States for the Destroyer Mk42 5inch Gun Mounting with follow on postings to the Destroyer's HMA Ships Hobart and then Brisbane.
In this role he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and began training for the Anzac class Frigates in which he was selected as the command and Control and Armaments Chief for HMAS Stuart in 2004.
On Stuart he was awarded a Fleet Commanders Silver Commendation for his exemplary performance in running the Weapons Electrical Engineering department and for the training of Junior Sailors.
In 2009 he was promoted to Warrant Officer and posted to Fleet Engineering Division and Sea Training Group.
