Second half of the Winter Craft Festival under-way
THE Winter Craft Festival has moved into it's second phase as we head into July, all hosted by the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery, thanks to the hard work of their volunteers.
There are about 20 Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery volunteers who have been working for more than a year to make this event possible.
June was a huge month for the art gallery with two exhibitors and daily workshops, and July is set to be just as big with new exhibitors, new workshops, and plans for an opening night.
The new exhibitor for the main gallery is Remants by Tangled Threads.
The exhibition features wearable art and a display of works created from textiles using a diverse range of fabrics and manipulation techniques.
Gallery two has been filled by the South Burnett Gem Club and Gallery three will display Cecile Arndt's Paintings on Silk.
Opening night is Thursday, July 4 from 6pm.
The artists from both exhibitions will be there along the volunteers who are hosting the upcoming workshops this month.
The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery will be open:
Monday through to Friday from 10am to 4pm. Then Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 1pm.
There is also a new monthly calendar of all of the workshops put on by the gallery.
Wednesday, July 3
There will be a Chilly Chair Warmers workshop led by volunteer Judy Brook. This workshop costs $15 per person and must be booked through the gallery. The workshop will run from 10am to 2pm in the 1913 Council Chambers building.
Thursday, July 4
This is the official opening. Entry is free and the gallery will re-open at 6pm.
Friday, July 5
This day has been set aside to encourage community members and those travelling through the South Burnett to pop by and contribute to the community rug project.
Sunday, July 7
The gallery is hosting a Nalbinding Rug Making and Dyeing workshop. This workshop must be booked and is $50 per person. Materials are then another $10 on top of that. This workshop runs from 9am to 3pm in the 1913 Council Chambers Building.
