Shopping centre sing-a-long gives a snippet of upcoming show
THE ears of Saturday shoppers were treated to a preview of the latest musical to hit South Burnett.
On Saturday, July 20 the Kingaroy Shoppingworld was transformed into a singing hub as the choir from the upcoming The Sound of Music sung some crowd favourites.
Orchestrated by the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society the upcoming show will run from between this Friday night, July 26 until next Sunday, August 4.
The family-friendly event will be hosted at the Kingaroy State High School Performing Arts Centre.
The Sound of Music director Amanda Reinbott said the preparations were coming together smoothly for their first performance.
"I picked The Sound of Music because I really enjoy it and it also gives the chance for a lot of people to get involved," Ms Reinbott said.
"It is a musical with a wide casting age group so we have children right through to the older generation," she said.
Ms Reinbott said they have two full casts for the show this year, which has involved a hefty amount of coordinating.
"We have had to rehearse in almost double the amount of time of getting a performance show ready because of our large cast."
Ms Reinbott said she is really looking forward to the Sunday performance, July 28 as it will be a sing-a-long style performance.
A first for the local musical comedy group, the director said to except "anything from Solo Me to Climb Ev'ry Mountain."
Show sessions for the The Sound of Music performance are:
- Friday, July 26 at 7.00pm
- Saturday, July 27 at 2.00pm
- Sunday, July 28 at 2.00pm (Sing-a-long)
- Friday, August 2 at 7.00pm
- Saturday, August 3 at 7.00pm
- Sunday, August 4 at 2.00pm
