South Burnett Saints players ride it out after rocky start

IT'S that time of year when people around the nation flock to their local pub to watch the AFL grand final.

South Burnett Saints players will be amongst the spectators at the Carrollee Hotel this Saturday to take part in the festivities.

Long-time club member Daniel Clacy said he was looking forward to a few celebratory drinks after a rough season.

"It was definitely a roller coaster of a year for the men's team,” Clacy said.

"We started really strong pre-season, then due to all sorts of reasons we struggled with numbers for two thirds of the season.

"We finished on a high after winning a few games, so hopefully next year we can rebuild.”

Clacy said the women's team, especially towards the end of the season, were coming into form.

"So I feel the positive thing about the women's team was seeing all of the new faces,” he said.

Coaching applications are now open for the men's, women's and U14 teams at the club.

The pre-season usually kicks off later in the year and Clacy said the start date would depend on the availability of the new coaches.
