South Burnett set to swelter
SOUTH Burnett residents are bracing for a hot start to the week.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns the thermometer will be edging towards 40, with highs of 37 today, 36 tomorrow, and 35 on Wednesday.
It's significantly higher than the November average of 28°C.
It will be even hotter in Gayndah, with maximums of 40°C expected today.
BoM forecaster Michael Paech said north to northwesterly winds were pushing higher temperatures towards the southeast and there was little reprieve in sight.
"We are not expecting to see anything really change until we get a trough through as late as Thursday before temperatures start to cool down," he said.
"There is little escape from the heat.
Temperatures will drop by 10°C on Thursday, down to maximums of 27°C and 26°C on Friday, when showers and cloud cover set in.
