Sponsorship secures future for BaconFest
THE future of Kingaroy BanconFest has been secured after SunPork Fresh Foods invested more than $105,000 as the festival's major sponsor for the next three years.
SunPork Fresh Foods executive general manager Rhys Collins said the company could not wait for the next festival after an impressive inaugural event in 2018.
"Any event involving bacon is always going to be a crowd pleaser, but the team of volunteers behind Kingaroy BaconFest worked extraordinarily hard to ensure its success,” Mr Collins said.
"We're proud to be associated with this festival and all it does to promote the consumption of Australian pork and bacon and support the local pig farming industry.”
Kingaroy BaconFest chief baconeer Kathryn Stevens said the festival committee was grateful for the backing of the company which owns Kingaroy-based processing plant Swickers.
"SunPork has been supportive of BaconFest since we first briefed them on the concept in 2017,” Ms Stevens said.
"Their ongoing support will allow us to operate with a confidence that would not otherwise be possible, and we're incredibly grateful for the faith they've demonstrated in our event.”
BaconFest will run from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25, and will include the popular Wine and Swine Cocktail Party on Friday, August 23 and a Long Table Breakfast on Sunday, August 25.
An official round of the Australasian Barbecue Alliance Championship Series, affectionately known as the SunPork Smoke-Off, will also be held as part of the festival and 36 teams have already registered for their chance to win the $14,000 prizemoney.
Sunpork's sponsorship deal is worth more than $105,000 plus product and in-kind support.
Further announcements about the 2019 Kingaroy BaconFest program will be made in coming weeks.
