Storm locks Will Chambers into new deal

MELBOURNE has re-signed star centre Will Chambers until the end of the 2020 season.

The Test and Origin regular had been linked to a number of rival clubs but has opted to stick with the Storm, where he made his NRL debut 10 years ago.

A regular for Queensland and Australia, Chambers is one of the best centres in the game.

"Will has grown up here at the Melbourne Storm, both as a person and as a footballer. It was important for us to retain Will as he is a member of our leadership group and brings valuable experience to our squad" said Storm football director Frank Ponissi.

"He is one of the leading centres in the competition and is forming a formidable partnership with Suli (Vunivalu) on the right side.

"Will has started the season in exceptional form and his selection in the Kangaroos and Queensland sides is testament to that.

"It's fantastic to have him continue his career with us for at least another three seasons."

Chambers played in the 2009 grand final victory over Parramatta before departing for rugby union.

He became one of the few players to earn a Super Rugby title and an NRL premiership when he played for the Reds in their 2011 final victory over the Crusaders before a stint with Munster precipitated a return to Melbourne.
