Supporting those who support the community

RED Earth is the foundation that has been chosen for the donations of the 2019 Mayor's Ball, and many loyal sponsors and guests are happy to hear it.

One particular sponsor is Ken Mills Toyota.

Ken Mills Toyota have has had significant involvement in sponsoring Red Earth since it first came about, as both Mr Mills and the team consider it a great addition for the community.

"When it comes to Red Earth, our involvement has been on the outside looking in. Once coming on board as a sponsor, we've gotten to know them very well,” he said.

"Our business came on board when the leadership programs began, and we've been sponsoring applicants ever since.”

Red Earth is a community-based, non-for-profit organisation set up to redistribute funds to those who need it most.

Mr Mills especially appreciates their help with natural disasters.

"They also do a lot other than the leadership program, it went right back to when Kingaroy had the really bad floods in 2013, that's when we saw the value of having an organisation that could manage and disperse funds and made us want to support them.”

Mr Mills believes Red Earth helps people feel more comfortable when donating.

"When there's a natural disaster, and people feel like helping, there's always doubt and uncertainty about donating and wondering how it's going to get who needs it,” he said.

"But that's not the case here. If you give to Red Earth, you know that the funds are going to where you want it to go to.”

Mr Mills said there are a lot of other good organisations like the Red Cross, Rotary and more that the people will help who need it most, but Red Earth does this on a local basis.

"They as an organisation are invaluable,” he said.
