'It's a house of horrors': Suspicious death on Coast
AMBULANCE officers made the grim discovery of a body found in Surfers Paradise last night.
Police did not confirm who called the emergency team to the Markwell Avenue home but confirmed an unidentified person had been found inside.
They are still working to formally identify the man.
A police spokesman said noone has been arrested in relation to the "suspicious" death.
Paramedics attended the scene around 5.15pm.
Officers have cordoned off around the area, which is located directly across the road from the Wyndham Hotel, and are expected to spend today combing the scene for clues.
It's believed the male victim suffered a serious head injury and died at the scene.
Police spent the night guarding the property which has been closed off the property as the murder investigation gets underway, with officials confirming the death is now being treated as suspicious.
Detective Acting Inspector Matt Ward said police were now asking anyone with information to come forward.
"We're asking anyone connected to the address or having knowledge of the circumstances leading to the death of this unidentified person at 34 Markwell Avenue," he said.
He could not confirm whether there had been previous incidents at the same address.
"I haven't gone into too much detail of that yet, the main thing is to try and find out who we're dealing with first," he said.
Investigations will continue overnight as police and forensic teams search the property.
A neighbour, who declined to be named, said there had been problems in the house for months.
"You've never heard such violence, such screaming," he said.
"It's been a house of horrors for months. I've been waiting for something like this to happen."
He said he had heard yelling earlier in the day as well.
Police then searched a unit block located beside tonight's apparent murder scene.
This is the second violent incident to occur on the street in less than a year.
In July 2018 a woman was found stabbed on the footpath and rushed to hospital.
