The mo' the merrier: Goomeri tradies take one for the team

FIVE Goomeri plumbers are preparing to hack off their pride and joy in the name of prostate cancer awareness.

Blake McMahon, Michael Giles, James Giles, Caleb Holland and Jeff Vaughan from James Giles Plumbing have been busy growing out their moustaches, mullets and beards for more than a year to raise much needed funds for the second most common cancer diagnosed in men in Australia and the third most common cause of cancer death.

The passionate plumbers are aiming to raise $2000, having already managed to collect $760 for the cause.

The team of five making up JGP Crew Cut will be locking off their locks next month on Saturday November 24 from 11am in front of Tracey's Hair Care on Moore St in Goomeri.

The event will also involve a sausage sizzle and a blue cupcake bake sale with proceeds raised going towards the Movember Foundation.

"We are all very excited to hold this event and about raising money and awareness for such a great cause,” the group's instigator and event organiser Blake McMahon said.

The tradie team has been planning to hold the fundraiser since this time last year, the fourth year apprentice said.

"We just wanted to help raise a bit of awareness for the old blokes in Goomeri who have been affected in some way,” Mr McMahon said.
