Tiger photographed at Queensland tip in rare spotting

A GOLD Coast man believes he has spotted the fabled 'Burleigh Tip Tiger' today.

Luke Bradley said he snapped a rare picture of the big cat, native to parts of Asia and Australia (hehe).

"It's rare to see him but I did manage to take this snap," Mr Bradley joked.

"(It's) something you don't see every day at the Burleigh tip."

This isn't the first time fabled Gold Coast creatures have made headlines.

The Merrimac bunyip has been making news since the 1930s with a news clipping from The Courier Mail in 1938 suggested the bunyip could be a crocodile after Nerang Shire Council "sanitary contractor" Charles Finamor confronted a 10ft reptile at a rubbish tip at the swamp's northern end.

And let's not forget the elusive Hinterland Yowie.

Gold Coast Yowie hunter Dean Harrison said that over the past decades there had been a number of Yowie sightings throughout the Gold Coast Hinterland from various members of the public, park rangers and even former politician Bill O'Chee.
