Tippett tipped to run on for Swans with others out injured

THE absence of key forward Sam Reid (quad) and ruckman Shane Mumford (cheekbone) means Kurt Tippett is almost certain to make his debut for the Sydney Swans against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

The former Adelaide goalkicker was fined $50,000 and handed an 11-game suspension for salary cap breaches after the end of last season, despite blaming the Crows for his predicament.

Adelaide also lost its first two picks at this year's national draft.

While he will no doubt lack match fitness, Tippett showed he had lost none of his skill by taking some strong marks and kicking truly in an intra-club match at the SCG on Saturday.

Coach John Longmire was non-commital about whether the performance had earned Tippett a place against Port, saying he had not been interested in what stats the 26-year-old had accumulated.

"He took a couple of grabs and kicked a couple of goals, but I wasn't there counting scores," Longmire said.

"It didn't worry me to be honest. He looked alright and moved alright and we'll make the call early in the week whether he'll play.

"He's still obviously a massive chance to play."
