Hay crushes ute in road accident

A DUAL cab ute has been crushed by bales of hay after it collided with the truck carrying them near Kumbia this morning.

The ute was travelling along Ironpot Creek Rd just before 11am when it lost control and crashed into the front of a prime-mover.

The collision forced the ute off the road and large hay bales to fall from the truck.

The 47-year-old man driving the ute was taken to hospital with a shoulder injury.

Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said most of the damage to the ute was caused by the falling hay bales.

"It had a fair bit of glass smashed and I would say that would be from the impact of the hay," he said.

Council workers were on the scene to clear the hay from the road.
