VOTES ARE IN: Top ten take-away stores in South Burnett
WHENEVER the family gets together for take-away night, you can be sure there will always be a difference of opinion on what to get.
So it was no surprise when we received many varied responses in the South Burnett Times People's Choice Awards for the region's best take-away store.
Kingaroy's Moonya St Store was voted in the top 10, beating out big names like McDonald's, KFC, Subway and Red Rooster.
Owner Gary Rogers said their popularity came from how they prepared and cooked their meals.
"We cook the food the we like to eat," he said.
Mr Rogers claimed they had the best hot chips in the region and said they had worked on them for years.
"There are so many different varieties of chips," he said.
"You have to get the right size chip.
"If you have too big a chip it takes too long to cook and it doesn't come out right."
The proud business owner recalls one particular international guest who had the ultimate compliment for the humble Kingaroy store.
"A couple had come over from France and said they were the best burgers they tasted anywhere in the world," Mr Rogers said.
Mr Rogers and his wife, Kerry, were extremely grateful for being acknowledged in the People's Choice Awards.
"Thank you very much and keep coming back," he said.
"That's what we are here for."
