Weather forces council to change road upgrade plans
DUE TO the State of Fire Emergency declaration across the region, South Burnett Regional Council has announced its has been forced to reschedule roadwork upgrades.
The council is unable to complete bitumen resealing works until fire conditions subside.
The upgrades were funded through Roads to Recovery, the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme and council’s 2019-20 Capital Budget.
Roadworks will be delayed at Brookland Pimpimbudgee Rd South, Maidenwell-Pimpimbudgee Rd, Brand Rd, Freeman Rd and Wooroonden Rd at Wooroonden, Redhill Rd at Chelmsford-Fountaindale, Wheatland Loop Rd at Wheatlands and Crownthorpe Rd at Crownthorpe.
Nangur Rd at Crownthorpe-Cobbs Hill, Warren Truss Dr, Roulett Way, Geoff Ralph Dr and Margaret St at Kingaroy, Royles Rd at Coolabunia, Couchman Rd at Memerambi and Birt Rd at Corndale road upgrades have also been affected by the delays.
A council representative said they had carried out heavy maintenance on these roads prior to resealing which included shoulder grading, pothole patching, temporary sealing and other pavement surface works.
Once the roadworks restart, property owners may experience restrictions to property access for short periods of time during the upgrades.
Council apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the community for their patience.
