WET WEATHER PLAN: Relay For Life will go ahead
SOUTH Burnett Relay For Life will be relocated from the Kingaroy Showgrounds to the Kingaroy State High School sports hall for the third consecutive year if the predicted wet weather comes to fruition.
South Burnett Relay For Life chair Rowena Dionysius said phone calls would be made to team captains who would pass on the message to their teams, if the weather turned.
"All I know is that if it comes, no one will be complaining - maybe disappointed - but at the moment they are only predicting a small amount of rain,” Mrs Dionysius said.
However she said if it did rain, it would not put a dampener on the event as the community was pumped to support the Cancer Council cause while enjoying performances from South Burnett musicians, a dance-off and lip sync battles.
"Hearing why people are relaying is my number-one favourite thing about Relay,” she said.
South Burnett Relay for Life will start with the opening ceremony at 3pm on Saturday and continue until 9am on Sunday.
"Make sure you come with change in your wallet as we are all avid fundraisers and there will be plenty of onsite fundraising happening,” Mrs Dionysius said.
