What Gina Rinehart's money could buy

SHE may be Australia's richest person, but even for Gina Rinehart there are some things money can't buy.

Actually, no that's wrong.

There is nothing she can't buy.

There are 36 billionaires in this country and right at the top of the list is a woman who loves our little ol' region.

With her big smile and famous red hat, Australia's iron ore queen has amassed a jaw-dropping fortune totalling $15.2b.

The chairman of Hancock Prospecting has a huge heart to go along with her huge bank balance and over the years, she has generously donated to many South Burnett events and causes.

As a hard-working, good looking and extremely humble journalist, my annual salary could be paid by Mrs Rinehart for the next 292,307 years.

However, that is probably a tad excessive as I don't expect to live much longer than 150,000 years.

If every single person in the entire South Burnett region ever found themselves in a pub, the iron ore magnate could shout us all a beer 84,444 times.

However, it may get a little crowded in the urinals.

Once we had all sobered up and were ready to drive home, Gina's money could buy 154,038 brand new Toyota LandCruisers.

You know, the ones with the 4.5L six speed diesel engines?

I'd like mine in a metallic blue.

The entire NRL rugby league competition would need to pull their socks up and clean up their act if Mrs Rinehart ever turned her attention to the sporting arena.

She could afford to buy every club's playing roster for the next 73 years.

The G.R.L (Gina Rinehart League) has a ring to it, don't you think?

I am not sure how strong the relationship is between Mrs Rinehart and our nation's leader, the honourable Scott Morrison, but I hope they are close.

Considering she could afford to pay the PM's salary every year for the next 28,795 years, they would be in for a very long and hopefully fruitful friendship.

Obviously, the top rating Australian entrepreneur has found a lot more effective ways to invest her hard-earned money than my unadorned suggestions.

But if she ever needed some advice, I know a guy who can do her a good deal on 52,777 four-bedroom Kingaroy homes.
