What Murgon's CBD footpath will look like

MURGON businesses and residents are looking forward to seeing the new footpath project, which is due to commence shortly.

South Burnett deputy mayor Kathy Duff revealed to the South Burnett Times today what the new footpath design will look like.

"The path will be a continuation of what is already outside the Murgon Post Office,” she said.

Members of the business community assessed the current path outside the post office and agreed it was a suitable design for the new foot path all along Lamb St.

Certain sections of the Murgon main business district will take preference.

"The big priority is the path along Mitre 10,” Cr Duff said.

"That area will be completed by the end of this financial year.”

Cr Duff said Murgon's footpath project was a long time coming and it meant a lot to the residents of the town.

"It's a big win, it will give the town a big lift,” she said.

"The town will look a lot fresher and newer.”

The region's deputy mayor was confident the entire footpath project would be complete by the end of the 2019/20 financial year.

"I am hoping it will be completed in the first six months of next year,” she said.
