What to expect at St Pat's Catholic Education Week
ST PATRICK'S Catholic Primary School have decked out their Catholic Education Week with some great fun for the whole school.
Catholic Education Week runs from July 29 to August 2, and the event focuses on celebrating the schools and their faith.
Jessica Purvey, Assistant Principal at St Patrick's, said they'll be starting the event with a whole school liturgy, before then celebrating with teacher-run rotational activities.
"This includes making palm clay crosses, designing a new mural in our shamrock garden as a main centrepiece from our theme this year, which is walking the journey,” she said.
"We'll be doing some dancing, as kids love to do celebration with dance, and then we've got a teacher doing some stain glass windows.”
According to Ms Purvey, the children are always enthusiastic to participate.
"It's an opportunity for all of us to come together in community, to be able to celebrate something that is special to catholic education, with all the schools celebrating in their own different ways,” she said.
"We also always have our liturgy to be able to remember who we are and why we're here, and it's great because the parents get invited to come and share the experiences with us as well.”
Ms Purvey said there's so many things always happening in the school, but Catholic Education is where they get the chance to take a lot of pride in who they are.
"Coming from our statue of St Patrick out the front, he was someone who lived out the gospel values of Jesus and converted a lot of people, so we're pretty proud to be named after him,” she said.
