What's on in the South Burnett this weekend

Tom Curtain will return to the South Burnett tonight to spread a positive message and entertain country music fans.

The award-winning country music star is bringing his Speak Up tour to the Kumbia Race Track from 6pm.

The tour is taking a stand against bullying, making sure the death of teenager Amy 'Dolly' Everett was not in vain. It will raise funds for Dolly's charity, Dolly's Dream.

Markets return to the Nanango Showgrounds for the new year.

From 6am-noon browse a large array of craft, new and used goods and plant stalls.

It is recognised as the largest rural market in Southeast Queensland.

Play will resume for South Burnett cricketers who return to the pitch this weekend.

In the South Burnett B-grade competition, Cherbourg will travel to Kumbia to take on the hometown side.

The Nanango Scorpions will host Kingaroy Services while the Kallindale Warriors will travel to Blackbutt to take on the Timbertowners and the Wondai Wolves will host the Murgon Diggers.

Play will start at 12.30pm.

The weekend is expected to be mostly sunny with a top of 31 and 32 degrees - great weather to take advantage of the outdoor activities on offer in the region.

The South Burnett Rail Trail provides a safe environment for the kids to ride their bikes while admiring the landscape of the region.

Take the opportunity to kayak at Ficks Crossing, visit one of the dams, or go for a swim and cool down at Maidenwell's Coomba Falls.
