Woman and kids confronted by offender brandishing knife

SOUTH Burnett police are seeking assistance from anyone who witnessed an attempted armed robbery in Kingaroy, or saw a stolen vehicle in the region yesterday.

A Blue Mazda sedan (541WJ) stolen from Deception Bay was sighted at the Murgon BP Roadhouse after a petrol drive-off offence there at 12.35pm on Thursday, May 23.

The vehicle was believed to have been seen driving erratically between Murgon and Wondai shortly afterwards.

A Kingaroy woman and her three young children were later approached by the occupants of the stolen Mazda at 1.45pm at the Rotary Park in Kingaroy, near the intersection of Haly St and Fisher St.

The woman was held at knife point while one of the occupants demanded money, before leaving empty handed in the stolen vehicle.

The vehicle was seen shortly after in the Kingaroy IGA carpark, before next being seen by police on the Bunya Highway heading towards Wondai.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle which failed to stop.

Due to the risk to the public, police abandoned the intercept attempt and the vehicle was last seen heading east on Taylors Rd.

It crossed onto the wrong side on the crest of the hill to pass another vehicle.

The vehicle was recovered in Caboolture late last night, but the offenders have not been caught.
