Your chance to see three planets from Queensland

IF YOU want a clear viewing of Mars, Saturn or Jupiter, right now could be your best chance.

Kingaroy Observatory astronomer James Barclay said Mars would make a close approach to Earth on Tuesday, meaning those with a powerful telescope could see the planet.

"Being so close to Earth, one can see its orangey brown dark land markings and the Martian polar cap," Mr Barclay said.

Now is your chance to see Saturn in clearly in the night sky, as long as you have a powerful telescope.

Mr Barclay said nearby Saturn and Jupiter were also in full view through a telescope.

According to Mr Barclay, all three planets will be visible until September.
