Your pet can meet Santa this weekend

SOUTH Burnett pet owners will get the opportunity to create a special memory with their furry friend this weekend, with Kingaroy Shoppingworld opening up for Pet Santa photos.

Shoppingworld centre manager Chris O'Rourke said the funds raised from the sessions would go to the RSPCA.

"It's grown in tradition around other centres,” he said.

"It's an opportunity for pet owners to come in and get a photo with their beloved animals for Christmas.”

Mr O'Rourke said the shopping centre had done pet Santa photos in the past,

"Our customers love them, the photos are very well received,” Mr O'Rourke said.

"They absolutely adore it.”

Mr O'Rourke said pet owners had to register for the photos and they already had a registration of a mini horse.

"We haven't had a mini horse walk in Shoppingworld before, so it'll be interesting,” he said.

"It's exciting for us.”

RSPCA Kingaroy's Sally Chambers said while pet Santa photos had occurred in Shoppingworld's car park in the past, this was the first time they had held it inside on the proper Santa set.

"Shoppingworld wanted us to make it bigger and better, ramp it up a bit and stuff, so that's what we're doing,” Ms Chambers said.

Ms Chambers said pet owners had to register with Shoppingworld for the photos.

"When people start seeing dogs waiting outside for their turn they might want to rush home and get their dogs,” she said.

Ms Chambers said the funds raised would help the local RSPCA shelter.

"It costs so much to run a centre, so we'll boost the funding available to run it successfully,” she said.

Santa photos for humans will also commence at Kingaroy Shoppingworld from 10am this Saturday, with the pet photos taking place from 2pm.
